Owning VW's, but never a New Beetle, I will just speak in general terms. When you open up the hood of your car, you should be able to look down and see the back side of your headlights. There should be a thick wire shroud running to the back of the headlight which should go into a plug/screw looking attachment to the back of the light.
This should be what is holding in your headlight plug. There are a couple of ways that this could be fastened. It could be a twist on so that you have to just %26quot;unscrew%26quot; it to get it to come out. There might be several prongs so that the plug %26quot;snaps%26quot; into the back of the headlight.
Just take a look at the plug and see how it attaches to the back of the light and you should be able to figure it out. it's not that hard of a job to do.How do i change the headlights in my 2000 VW beetle?
there is a plastic ring alongside the headlight housing under the hood. there is a liitle tab on the ring that has a notch that will fit a finger pretty good. at the base of the tab, there is a liitle square tab that has several xxxx%26quot;s on it.. depress where you see the xxx%26quot;s (you may need a small screwdriver or pen for this) rotate the tab with the notch in it ccw on the right side, cw on the left side, and with a liitle help with the other hand, pop the whole assembly out the front. then there is a plastic door on the backside, the bulb is under the door. are you in the st louis area? if so, i can show you.How do i change the headlights in my 2000 VW beetle?
